Division of Boarders

Save for being able to describe where we are located in this world is there really any point in separating ourselves from others?
2019Beverly

Why do we have to have the division of borders? Are we not but one… one mankind?

Save for being able to describe where we are located in this world is there really any point in separating ourselves from others? With the division, our separation from each other seems to deepen. Oh you are from there…. sorry I cannot help you. What would happen to our world if there were no boundaries? If all rules were the same across the board, across the world.

How can we work together if we continue to allow ourselves to be separated from each other? Why is it we continue to allow ourselves to be forced into thoughts that one is better than another? Who is they… the they that have decided it was in our best interest to draw the lines in the earth - battle one person against the other simply because of where they live. Who is the they that decided we are better off this way?

How can we move forward in our goals of survival if we do not throw down the separations. How can we choose who should survive and who cannot. What gives us this right. Are we not all as of one? If the boundaries were erased from the earth could we better work together towards the one common goal - the goal of survival? Could we not all share in the honor of winning? If there were no boundaries then the person next to us would be our neighbor no matter where they came from.

How can the boundaries be broken down? Should they even be? Do you want them to be?

In 2019 the boundaries are being broken with large masses relocating. There are no viable options other than relocation for millions as climate change has pushed millions to move However, the governments have not caught up with ways to effectively deal with the issue.

I am very very sorry, but personally I do not want to be in any way associated with islamic or corrupt third world countries. I like it if my government closes agreements with those but I vehemently do NOT want borders between my country and theirs being lifted. I live in a democracy and I would like to keep it that way, having a say about my own country, thank you very much.

Ruud 10 years ago I might have been able to understand this way of thinking with the state of the world as it was, but in this modern age of 2019 I find it hard to believe that there are still some out there that hold past hatred. How can we hope to survive if we continue with past thinking?

Shanghaiz perhaps it will take the fall of the governments for the boundaries to be completely broken?

boundaries are part of what make us who we are, it is in our instincts to find solace with those like us. it is our heritage, our ancestors, our history. boundaries are part of our very being, both on a small scale like streets and villages, and a large scale such as continental boundaries. Yes, it may hurt our efforts to work together, but really, if we want it enough as 'one mankind' surely we can see past our social divisions and get on with it! DR

Do you think we would give up our heritage, our ancestors, our history if we give up borders and boundaries? Can we have boundaries without borders, or borders without boundaries? Would we lose ourselves In the process?

Travel breaks down these borders - travel makes those who are distant to us less 'other' and creates bonds of kinship with people who come from very far away. This will be a challenge - to keep this mixing and building of relationships between communities when travel becomes more difficult and expensive.

Is it even possible to put aside our past hates, past lives, to move forward with a whole new outlook? A whole new beginning? Was it not our former ideas that got us into this mess in the first place? Was it not the boarders and boundaries that kept us separated?

I find this very interesting, its true we are all of one mankind. So why do we have the division of borders? If there was ever a chance to create equality among all nations our world would be a much better place. The problem is, that we are all human and we all have to many different opinions that get in the way of our goals of creating equality, even if the lines where erased.

I agree. I think that the borders that exist are really only there in our minds, and if every person could take the time, they would realize the simple fact: we are all people. Regardless of color, race, religion, ethnicity, political views, etc- we all share the same earth. And unless we can grow together and become united, we are only limiting ourselves and the differences we can make.

People in this world are very selfish. I don't think we will have a world without borders anytime soon. If we destroy the borders then the people who are in power will feel threatened. They like to be in power. We have had a strong history of racism in the US with every single new ethnicity immigrating to the US. People that look different will always be discriminated. It will take us a long time to be equal.

Perhaps the lines in the sand can never be taken away, but if we start in our own communities or even our own homes, schools, work places we can help those lines that seperate us fade.

I think this is an important issue - groups like doctors without borders exist - not exactly grassroots but it started there, At the same time this does need to be addressed at a national and international level too - people get on no fly lists for being vocal proponents of democracy (thinking of anti G8 activists and the powers that be prevent them from being without borders.

I am seeing people cross those boundries seperated by borders to reach out to others. The movement has started and it is a wonderful thing to witness.
