SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA (AP) -- In the early hours of yesterday morning, the executive board of the Franco-American entertainment conglomerate Activision-Blizzard Inc. voted to suspend 'World of Starcraft', their massively successful competitor in the third-generation MMORPG marketplace.  Following its implication as a key site in the Malay Financial Scandal - the full details of which are still emerging - the game's suspension has angered and outraged many fans of the franchise, who are protesting the company's decision.

"Even if it turns out that the ARK video is true - and, remember, we've yet to see any concrete proof," says Rebecca Williams, a legal secretary and avid MMORPGer from Berkshire County, Massachussetts, "I fail to see why the World of Starcraft players should be deprived of access to one of the premier MMORPGs on the market, simply as the result of some corporate skullduggery.  We haven't done anything wrong."

With many uncertain of whether their most recent game subscription payments will be refunded, analysts are suggesting that this move could spell a potential deathblow to Activison-Blizzard's online operations, forcing them to streamline their activities and concentrate resources on the burgeoning ARG (Alternate Reality Game) and geolocative markets.
