  • Mission

    The 500 year floodplains of all the worlds waters are appropriated for permitted public use. Where rivers have been disconnected from their floodplains, the connection is restored. The result is an decrease in flooding in developed areas, a decrease in nutrient pollution into the worlds freshwater ecosystems, estuaries and marine habitats near the mouths of rivers.

    More importantly, the agricultural colleges are encouraged through research grants to develop packages of small-scale integrated aquaculture/agriculture programs specifically designed for floodplain environments (eg, wild rice/crayfish), and these are distributed through technical extension programs to refugee groups who are given permits for production in the riparian zones. Sustainable agroecology principals (nutrient cycling, polyculture, etc) are the foundation of this work. Restoration of soil fertility is provided by floodwater deposition rather than energy intensive fertilizers.
